Our obligations
Depending on the role performed and transaction, EJS Finance, a motor dealer, finance provider or other accountable institution may have duties under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act. These include registration where applicable, customer due diligence, beneficial-ownership identification, risk assessment, record keeping, sanctions screening, ongoing due diligence and regulatory reporting.
Information that may be requested
We may request identity and address evidence, legal-entity and beneficial-owner information, authority to act, tax or business details, source of funds or wealth, bank evidence, transaction purpose, politically exposed or prominent-person information and documents required by a product provider or law.
No anonymous or false information
A transaction may be delayed, restricted or declined if required information cannot be verified, appears inconsistent or creates an unacceptable legal or financial-crime risk. Supplying false documents or using another person’s identity may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Sanctions and adverse information
Names and related information may be screened against applicable targeted financial-sanctions lists, prominent-person information, fraud indicators and lawful verification sources. A possible match is reviewed and does not automatically mean wrongdoing.
Regulatory reporting and confidentiality
Certain cash-threshold, suspicious, terrorist-property or other reports may have to be submitted to the Financial Intelligence Centre. The law may restrict us from telling a person that a report has been made or considered. This page does not describe confidential detection rules or reporting decisions.
Privacy and retention
FICA information is handled under our POPIA Privacy Policy and retained for legally required periods. Legal duties may prevent immediate deletion even after consent is withdrawn or a relationship ends.
